Oudenaarde offers more than just cultural and natural beauty. If you stay here for one or several days you can taste and sample a variety of regional culinary specialties and Burgundian dishes. Cosy eating-houses, trendy restaurants, traditional kitchens and gastronomic temples: you will find them in Oudenaarde.

Oudenaarde is especially well-known for its rich brewing history and its many brown ales and cherry beers. They are renowned far beyond our borders:

  • Liefmans brewery: Gouden Band, Jan van Gent, cherry beer
  • Roman brewery: Ename Triple, Ename Blond, Ename Bruin, Sloeber, Maters Wit, Adriaan Brouwer
  • Cnudde brewery: Bizon, Cnudde bruin
  • Clarysse brewery: Felix bruin, Kriek

The gin of distillery Braeckman is also worthwhile, and you can taste one of the following regional delicacies: Lekkies and bierbollen (sweets) made by the confectioner Jan Van Gent, Rabbit with Oudenaards beer, Adriaan Brouwer pastry, Ename ham, ...

Plenty of outdoor cafés. Coming to the Grote Markt is traditonal in Oudenaarde: the lively crowd in the outdoor cafés enjoys a lovely and tasty traditional beer and the breathtaking view of the town hall.

A night out in Oudenaarde

Oudenaarde offers possibilities for culture lovers as well as for partygoers.
Culture lovers are pampered at the cultural centre De Woeker. It guarantees quality and offers a selection of top-of-the-bill performers and programs in the typical intimate atmosphere of its small house. De Woeker also gives opportunities to young and promising artists and programs less known and less popular genres.

Partygoers can live it up in the Qubus, a brand-new multipurpose hall. It is easily accessible and situated in an industrial area between Bevere and Eine, so there is no noise pollution.
