With the slogan “Oudenaarde, the richness of a tapestry” Amuso wants to initiate the visitor in the different aspects of the town’s textile past. The lower clothmakers’ hall exhibits 15 tapestries from Oudenaarde. Your visit to the clothmakers’ hall is prepared by an educational fairy-tale wall that puts you in the right mood and opens up a wondrous world of mythic figures and fabulous creatures and ginger bread houses. Amuso makes sure that you experience these classic collections differently.
In the restoration and weaving workshop in House de Lalaing you can see how a tapestry is woven and how the restoration process progresses. This House is unique in Flanders and should be visited in combination with the collection of tapestries in the town hall.
Even today Oudenaarde keeps its textile history alive, as proves the three-yearly competition for cartoon design which attracts renowned native and foreign artists. House de Lalaing also hosts a variety of textile exhibitions.

You will be fascinated by the special exhibition of this outstanding collection of silver from Oudenaarde and elsewhere in Europe.
The brilliance of the silver takes you along to the glorious dining rooms of the past. A sumptuous baroque table, adorned with glittering silver cutlery, Venetian glassware and a damask table-cloth. An 18th century festive dinner....
This is an inviting temptation!
The silver collection De Boever-Alligoridès allows us to focus on the tables from the 16th till the 19th century. The past often revives in the kitchen. Artful silverware shows that people made eating and drinking into a form of art.
Amuso lets you enjoy all these culinary highlights and takes you along on a trip through time.
